Half Assed

So here I am sitting at the computer, using Microsoft Turd to edit the guitar chord progressions of a Dave Matthew song. I decided to learn to play Grace is Gone. Plus a couple others that I have had to do some editing on as well. But not nearly as much as this one. I go to Ultimate Guitar for 90% of my tabs, and stuff. As I sit here and get more aggitated, I decided it would be something to rant a little about.

I have a really hard time understanding why, or even how someone can bungle the chords to a song SO badly. Its not like playing another artist music leaves a whole lot of room for change. You can play the same song in another key or something the like, or add in a few supplementary chords to spicethings up a bit. But YOU CANNOT JUST FKN MAKE SHIT UP. If someone is going to go to all the trouble of posting a song they figured out online, then they should make sure its correct. The purpose in putting it online is to provide an ACCURATE representation of the song for someone else to learn.

If I wanted to do a puzzle, the last place I would look to do it is on a guitar tablature site.

Figuring out a song, and writing it down can be good practice, and quite rewarding. But before you present it to the general public, play it a few times. Take a good look at it. Make sure it looks right, and is playable the way you wrote it. Someone once sait to me, “If a man cant be bothered to polish his shoes, imagine the other things he cant be bothered to do”. Like tune his guitar, or wipe his ass after taking a shit.

Point is ….. if you cant be bothered to make ‘educational’ material correct, then stop wiping your ass. Or someone else is going to have to do it for you. Only babies, and geriatrics should get that kind of special treatement.

Start All the Illegal Downloading of Music

illegal musci downloading

I heard today that Radiohead’s old record label:Parlophone is releasing a best of album and it got me thinking about all this illegal downloading of music hoopla.

It seems that labels and bands are really battling to make money these days, and with the fact that illegal downloading of music is so prevalent the music industry has been really battling to keep their profits alive. The music industry is changing with the major availability of free music downloads online.

So I say: keep changing.

For the past few years I have been saying that bands are going to have to change the way they make money. I really don’t think they will be able to stop all of the illegal downloading of music, so they should just roll with it. Like most people I am an advocate of the prospect of free music. Lots of bands now are offering their singles and albums as free downloads, which is a major step in the right direction. Sure bands will loose a lot of profit from album sales, but they can surely make it up in other areas.

This trend of downloading music off of the internet will benefit the fans in the long run. If a band cannot make money from album sales any longer they will have to figure out a new way to monetize, or work harder at current avenues of income.

Such as touring.

This is my theory: If you want to see your favourite bands live, more often. You need to start downloadiong even more of their music. This loss in sales will force bands to tour more often to make up for the lost of album sales. Sure it’s a kick in the junk, but like I said earlier: the music industry is changing. It’s now time to head to a site like Mp3Rocket.com , sign up and start downloading.

Of course free music downloading can also help new bands. I was talking to Ryan McCullagh of The Paper Cranes today and he said that if it weren’t for free music downloads they would have much less of a fan base than they do now. To me free music means that more people will be introduced to bands, and with more fans, more tickets sales for when they tour. It makes sense to me.

I don’t think that this illegal downloading of music will have a negative impact on bands if they look at this situation from a different perspective. Business models change all the time, musicians will just have to deal with it

Spears VS. Aguilera

As a follow-up to The White’s post about the Louisiana clusterfuck known as Britney Spears, I would like to point out the role reversal that has taken place between her and Christina Aguilera.

Aguilera, at one time, was the poor man’s spanker. Spears was cute, had an innocence about her and seemed to have much more talent. Aguilera looked as though she tasted of mouldy SPAM.

Even the media favoured Spears over Aguilera. At the MTV awards when Spears and Madonna shared an on-stage kiss, the cameras cut away when it was Aguilera’s turn.

Now Aguilera’s back, married, had a kid and is sporting a pair of milk filled, E-cup sweater puppies. Suddenly, even Ellen has fallen under the spell of Aguilera (and by spell, I mean staring at her tits). All things return and are triumphant in the end.

What is the point in this post. Three simple words. Tiffany sex tape. Let’s get this shit going!

Britney Spears is Singing ‘Click Me Baby One More Time’

My personal favourite word to describe Britney Spears is: Disaster. I still enjoy watching her fall apart and then pull her life together over and over again. Seriously who doesn’t love a gripping game of snakes and ladders.

But despite being a disaster, she still holds a small piece of me. She used to be hot right, maybe she can do it again. I mean seriously who hasn’t pulled out the ‘snake’ while watching her in the ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’ Video or enjoying those monster nipples during her performance at the 1999 Kid’s Choice Awards… of course those days are gone.
Luckily I am not here to ramble on about past episodes of ‘Masturbatory Theatre.’

No, I am here to chat about the current train wreck that is Britney Spears. Now this is something that you will not on any of the gossip shows because the average person does not understand or care about what I am going to mention. I personally believe that Britney Spears in some huge financial trouble. So why do I think this? Well I have 2 words that will sum up my reasonings. Most people in the blogging and internet marketing world may understand my theory, but some of you may need and explanation. The 2 words that accurately describe and predict the financial downfall of Britney Spears is…

Google Adsense

For those of you that do not know what Google Adsense is, it is (in short) an advertising system created by Google that allows people with a blog or website to place a bit of code within their website, and Google will place ads on your website or blog. When someone comes to your site and clicks on an ad, you get paid.

If you head to the Britney Spears Official website and scroll to the bottom of the page you will find a Google Adsense block.

Not so funny right?

Here is why the seasoned bloggers and webmasters are laughing now. Generally (and I hate to make generalizations but…) Google Adsense pays just pennies per ad click. For some sites that have certain keywords targeted you will get paid a decent amount of money, but for the most part, your just getting pennies per click.

So to me it seems that Britney is going really broke because she has just crossed over to the internet equivalent of begging for change on the streets. It’s really sad but I guess she needs all the help she can get, so why not head over to her site and toss a few pennies her way.

But before you go why not watch the music video for ‘Hit me Baby One More Time’ and think of me:
